How it works
An anagram is a word or phrase obtained by rearranging all the letters of another word. This tool offers two approaches: mathematically generating every possible permutation of your letters, or comparing your letters to a word list you provide, keeping only real words.
Why the 8-letter limit in permutation mode?
The number of permutations of a word grows with the factorial of its length: 8 letters already gives up to 40,320 combinations. Beyond that, the calculation would become too heavy to remain instant in the browser, not to mention that most results would not be real words.
Why use dictionary mode instead of permutations?
Permutation mode generates every possible combination, including those that don’t form any real word. Dictionary mode, on the other hand, only keeps words present in the list you paste yourself (for example, a list of valid words for a board game), which gives a directly usable result.
