How it works
The ASCII table assigns a standardized numeric code to each printable character (letters, digits, punctuation), used everywhere in low-level computing: network protocols, file encodings, binary debugging. Search by character, decimal, hexadecimal, or binary code to instantly find the other representations.
Why does the table start at code 32 and not at 0?
Codes 0 to 31 (and 127) are non-printable control characters (carriage return, tab, end of file, etc.) that have no direct visual representation. This table deliberately limits itself to the 95 printable characters, from space (32) to tilde (126).
ASCII and Unicode: what's the difference?
ASCII is a subset of Unicode: the first 128 Unicode code points (0 to 127) correspond exactly to the ASCII table. Unicode goes far beyond to represent all the world's characters and symbols, including accents, emojis, and non-Latin alphabets.
100% local processing: this table is generated entirely in your browser via WebAssembly, no data is sent to a server.
