Change the Sample Rate of a WAV File

Resample a WAV file to a new sample rate (via linear interpolation) without changing playback speed. Works only with 16-bit PCM WAV files up to 100 MB.

Common sample rates:
Between 1,000 Hz and 192,000 Hz depending on your needs.

How It Works

Some software or devices only accept a specific sample rate (for example, 44,100 Hz or 16,000 Hz for a speech recognition system). This tool recalculates the file's samples at the new rate by interpolating between neighboring samples, preserving the duration and pitch of the sound, unlike a simple speed change.

What is the difference between changing sample rate and changing speed?

Changing speed alters the duration and perceived pitch of the sound. Resampling, on the other hand, reconstructs the signal at a new frequency while keeping the same duration and pitch — only the file's technical precision changes.

Will I lose quality by reducing the sample rate?

Yes, drastically reducing the sample rate (for example, from 44,100 Hz to 8,000 Hz) limits the high frequencies that can be represented and can make the sound less faithful. For voice, 16,000 Hz is generally sufficient.

100% local processing: the calculation happens entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your audio is never sent to a server.
