Reverse an Audio File
Reverse the playback order of a WAV file to get a “backwards” audio effect. 100% local processing in your browser (WebAssembly) — nothing is sent to a server. Works only with 16-bit PCM WAV files (max 50 MB per file).
How It Works
Want to create a retro sound effect, hide an easter egg in a track, or simply hear what a recorded phrase sounds like backwards? This tool reverses the order of all audio samples in the file, so the end becomes the beginning and vice versa, while preserving channel synchronization (left/right for a stereo file).
Does the result really sound different, or just “backwards”?
The result is much more than simply playing backwards: the attacks and resonances of each sound are also reversed, often giving a timbre very different from the original (a reversed cymbal, for example, sounds like a swell building in intensity rather than a strike followed by decay).
Can I turn the file back the right way after reversing it?
Yes, the operation is perfectly reversible: run the tool again on the reversed file to get back exactly the original file.
100% local processing: reversing happens entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your audio is never sent to a server.
