How It Works

Want to speed up a recorded lecture to save time, or slow down a musical passage to study its notes? This tool replays the audio by changing the number of samples traversed per unit of time, which speeds up or slows down playback in proportion to the chosen factor.

Does the pitch of the sound change too?

Yes. Unlike professional time-stretch algorithms that preserve pitch, this tool changes speed and pitch together, exactly like a magnetic tape or vinyl record played faster or slower.

What factor should I choose to speed up a lecture without distorting the voice too much?

A factor between 1.25 and 1.5 is generally still understandable for speech. Above 2.0, the voice becomes noticeably higher and harder to follow.

100% local processing: the processing is done entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your audio is never sent to a server.
