Pixel Art Avatar Generator

Generate a random symmetrical pixel-art avatar, or draw it yourself cell by cell, then export the result as a PNG. Everything is created in your browser—nothing is sent to a server.

Grid:

How It Works

Want a unique retro pixel-art avatar for a gaming profile, forum, or social network? This tool generates a symmetrical grid randomly filled with a few colors (reminiscent of pixelated crests or "identicons") that you can then fine-tune pixel by pixel with the color palette, before exporting the result as a high-resolution PNG image.

Why is the generated pattern always symmetrical?

Horizontal symmetry instantly produces a more harmonious and recognizable result than a completely random fill, in the style of avatars auto-generated by some services (identicons): only the left half of the grid is randomized, then mirrored to the right half.

What grid size should I choose?

An 8×8 grid gives a very minimalist look that stays readable even at small sizes (profile icon), while a 16×16 grid allows more detail but requires a larger display to remain readable; 12×12 is a good compromise for most uses.

No image is sent to a server: the drawing and PNG export are generated entirely in your browser via the Canvas API.
