Convert AVIF images to JPG
Batch convert your AVIF images to JPG, directly in your browser, thanks to the AVIF decoder already built into modern browsers.
Why convert an AVIF to JPG?
AVIF has become the default output format on many recent phones and on some performance-optimized websites (it often weighs two to three times less than a JPG at equivalent quality). The problem arises when this file needs to be reused elsewhere: consumer photo editing software, an online printing tool, an old CMS, or a business email client that only recognizes JPG/PNG will often refuse to open a .avif file. This tool unblocks that kind of situation, in bulk, without installing any software.
Why won't my software open my AVIF file?
Recent browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) can display AVIF natively. The problem usually comes from third-party software — an image editor, a viewer, a layout tool — that hasn't yet implemented the AV1 decoding used by AVIF. Converting to JPG solves the problem because that format has been universally recognized for over 25 years.
AVIF vs JPG: what's the difference?
AVIF uses the newer, more efficient AV1 video codec, which lets it achieve better visual quality at the same file size. JPG remains much more universally compatible, however: it's this trade-off between compatibility and file weight that justifies converting an AVIF back to JPG depending on the intended use.
All conversion happens locally, in your browser: your images are never sent to a server.
