Break-Even Calculator
Calculate your business's break-even point: the number of units to sell and the revenue needed to cover your fixed and variable costs. The entire calculation stays local in your browser.
How it works
The break-even point is the minimum sales volume needed for your revenue to cover exactly all of your costs (fixed and variable), with no profit or loss. It's calculated by dividing fixed costs by the contribution margin per unit sold (selling price minus variable cost).
What's the difference between fixed and variable costs?
Fixed costs (rent, fixed salaries, software subscriptions...) stay the same regardless of sales volume. Variable costs (raw materials, commissions, shipping fees...) change proportionally with the number of units sold. Only the margin from each unit contributes to covering fixed costs.
What is the "margin of safety" shown in the result?
If you enter an expected number of sales, the tool calculates the gap between those sales and the break-even point: this is the margin of safety, expressed in units and percentage. The higher it is, the more your business can absorb a drop in sales before slipping into a loss.
Your cost and price data are never sent to a server: the calculation runs entirely in your browser.
