Monthly Burn Rate Calculator
Calculate your company's monthly burn rate (gross and net) and estimate your runway — the number of months left before you run out of cash at your current spending pace. No data is sent to a server.
How it works
Burn rate measures how quickly a company spends its cash each month. Gross burn rate is simply the total monthly expenses, while net burn rate subtracts the revenue collected in the same period. Runway is obtained by dividing available cash by net burn rate: it's the number of months left before you run out of cash if nothing changes.
What's the difference between gross and net burn rate?
Gross burn rate ignores revenue and only reflects the pace of spending: it's useful for comparing your cost structure over time. Net burn rate accounts for actual cash collections and gives a more accurate picture of the impact on cash flow, especially for a business that already generates revenue.
How should I interpret the runway result?
A short runway (under 6 months) usually signals that you need to act quickly: cut expenses, accelerate sales, or raise funds. This calculation assumes constant revenue and expenses from month to month; in practice they vary, so it's a simplified estimate, not a guaranteed financial forecast. It doesn't replace advice from an accountant, financial expert, or business management consultant.
