Business valuation estimator

Get a quick estimate of a business's value by combining the revenue multiple and net profit multiple methods, adjusted for cash and debt. The entire calculation is done locally in your browser.

Example:
Net profit after tax, can be negative
Often between 0.5 and 2 depending on the industry
Often between 3 and 6 depending on the industry

How it works

This tool applies the multiples method, one of the most widely used approaches to quickly estimate the value of a small or medium-sized business. It calculates a valuation based on revenue (revenue × multiple) and another based on net profit (net profit × multiple), then averages the two before adding net cash (cash available minus financial debt).

How do I choose the revenue and net profit multiples?

Multiples vary greatly depending on the industry, the size of the company, its growth and its dependence on the owner. A net profit multiple of 3 to 6 is common for a typical SME, and a revenue multiple of 0.5 to 2 for services or trading activities. For a specific sector (SaaS, e-commerce, consulting firm...), look up the usual multiples observed in comparable transactions.

What if net profit is negative?

If the net profit entered is zero or negative, the net-profit method is not applied and the final estimate relies solely on the revenue multiple, adjusted for net cash. This reflects the fact that a loss-making company is generally valued on its revenue potential rather than its current profitability.

This estimate is simplified and does not replace a valuation performed by a chartered accountant, a statutory auditor or a professional specializing in business transfers, who will take into account elements specific to your situation (contracts, assets, disputes, market, etc.).

The calculation is done entirely in your browser: no financial data entered is sent to a server.
