Simplified Carbon Footprint Calculator
Estimate, in just a few fields, an order of magnitude for your annual carbon footprint from transportation, home electricity, and food. A simplified, educational calculation done locally — your habits are never sent to a server.
How it works
Each category (car, train, plane, electricity, food) is multiplied by an average emission factor expressed in kilograms of CO2 equivalent, using orders of magnitude inspired by public sources such as ADEME's Base Carbone. The sum of the six categories gives an overall annual estimate, comparable to the national average.
Is this result an official carbon report?
No: this is a simplified estimate for educational purposes that covers only a few common consumption categories. A full, certified carbon report takes many more factors into account (consumer goods, public services, housing beyond electricity, digital usage...) and requires a dedicated methodology.
Why do flights weigh so heavily in the result?
Air travel emits a lot of CO2 per hour of travel compared with trains or even cars, largely because of cruising altitude and kerosene consumption: a few hours of flying a year can represent a large share of the total, even if your daily trips are more frugal.
Your consumption habits never leave your browser: the calculation is done entirely locally, with no connection to a server.
