Color Name to HEX Converter

Search a common CSS/X11 color name (like “tomato” or “cornflowerblue”) and instantly get its hexadecimal code and RGB value. Search and autocomplete are 100% local — no request is sent to a server.

How It Works

CSS recognizes more than 140 standardized color names (inherited from the X11 specification) that can be used directly in a stylesheet, such as tomato or cornflowerblue. This tool embeds the complete lookup table and locally searches, with autocomplete, the hexadecimal code and RGB value for the entered name.

Can I use the color name directly in my CSS?

Yes, standard CSS color names work as-is in any color property (color: tomato;, for example). Converting to HEX is most useful outside CSS (design, code that only accepts hex) or to know the exact RGB value behind a name.

What if the name I search for isn't found?

Check the spelling: CSS color names are written in English and without spaces (for example lightskyblue, not “light sky blue”). If the name simply doesn't exist in the standard list (e.g. a brand color name), use a color picker instead to get its hexadecimal code directly.

The search runs entirely in your browser from an embedded table: no data is transmitted to a server.
