Reverse Geocoding: GPS Coordinates to Address
Convert GPS coordinates into an approximate postal address using the free, open-source reverse geocoding API Nominatim (OpenStreetMap).
How it works
Reverse geocoding finds the address or place closest to a given set of GPS coordinates. This tool queries Nominatim, the free, open-source reverse geocoding service of the OpenStreetMap project, in compliance with its usage policy.
Does this tool send my data to a server?
Yes, unlike most tools on this site: the coordinates you enter are sent directly from your browser to the public Nominatim API (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) to run the search. No API key is required and no data passes through this site's servers, but your request is received by this third-party service, in accordance with its OpenStreetMap terms of use.
Is the returned address always exact?
No. Depending on the density of OpenStreetMap data in the area, the returned address may be approximate (the nearest building or street rather than an exact address).
