How it works
Ship names (a contraction of “relationship name”) are widely used in fandoms and on social media to refer to a couple in one word, just as tabloids do with celebrity couples. This tool applies several merging methods to the two entered first names: the first half of one name combined with the second half of the other, alternating letters, or a mix of first and last letters, to produce several distinct suggestions.
Why do I get several different results?
Each merging method produces a different style: some stay closer to the original names, while others are shorter and punchier. Compare the suggestions and keep the one that sounds best.
Does the order of the first names change the result?
Yes. Except for the “Alternating letters” method, which is symmetric, changing the order of the two entered names changes the results of the other methods, since they combine the beginning of one name with the end of the other.
