Anonymize a CSV
Paste or upload a CSV file and specify the columns to mask (names, emails, phone numbers...): the tool replaces each value with a partially masked version, while keeping the file readable.
How it works
Useful when you need to share a sample of your data with an external provider, a consultant, or a test team, without exposing your customers' real personal information (a classic GDPR requirement). Paste or upload your CSV, list the names of the sensitive columns separated by commas (for example name, email, phone), click "Anonymize": the values in those columns are replaced with a masked version, other columns remain unchanged.
How exactly are values masked?
Masking deliberately keeps part of the value so the data stays visually usable (sorting, spotting a duplicate) without being identifying. If a value looks like an email address, only the first character of the local part is kept, followed by ***@domain.com (the domain remains readable, useful for telling a work address from a personal one apart). For any other value (name, city, phone number...), the first 2 characters are kept followed by ***; values of 1 character or less are fully masked.
If I make a mistake in a column name, does the tool break?
No: if a specified column name doesn't match any header in the file, it's simply ignored and the rest of the processing continues normally. However, check the result to confirm that the expected columns were indeed masked.
Processing is entirely local, performed in your browser via WebAssembly: your personal data never leaves your computer.
