Desk Ergonomics Checker
Enter your workstation measurements (chair, desk, screen) and get an immediate diagnosis to spot settings that need adjusting and reduce muscle and eye strain.
How it works
This tool compares your workstation measurements to widely used ergonomic benchmarks: seat height proportional to your height, desk height that allows horizontal forearms, and screen distance/height that limits neck and eye strain. Each element is scored separately, with a practical explanation of how to correct the setting if needed.
Where do the recommended heights come from?
The ideal seat height is estimated at about 25% of your height (feet flat on the floor, knees at a right angle). Desk height adds the approximate height of your elbows once seated, so your forearms stay horizontal on the keyboard. For the screen, the classic benchmarks are a distance of 50 to 70 cm and the top edge at or slightly below eye level. These are averages: your body shape (leg or arm length) may justify small adjustments.
What if several settings need to be adjusted?
Start with the chair (feet flat, knees at a right angle), then adjust the desk or chair height for your forearms, and finally the screen position. If your desk isn't height-adjustable, a footrest or monitor stand can often make up for most of the gap. This tool provides informational benchmarks and does not replace the advice of a professional ergonomist if you have persistent pain.
The calculation is done entirely in your browser: no measurements you enter are sent to a server.
