Elevation Lookup from GPS Coordinates

Find the elevation of a point from its GPS coordinates using the free, open-source Open-Elevation API, based on public topographic data (SRTM).

Example:

How it works

This tool queries Open-Elevation, a free, open-source API built on public topographic datasets (including the SRTM satellite survey), to return the elevation of the point closest to the requested coordinates.

Does this tool send my data to a server?

Yes, unlike most tools on this site: the coordinates you enter are sent directly from your browser to Open-Elevation's public API (api.open-elevation.com). No API key is required and no data passes through this site's servers, but your request is indeed received by this third-party service.

How accurate is this elevation?

Accuracy depends on the resolution of the topographic data available for the area (generally around 30 meters with SRTM), so it may differ slightly from the exact elevation of the precise point you're looking for.
