Read EPUB Files Online
Open an .epub file and read it directly in this page, chapter by chapter, without creating an account or installing a reader: the file stays entirely on your device.
How it works
An EPUB file is actually a ZIP archive containing XHTML pages (one file per chapter), a metadata file (OPF) that describes their reading order, and resources like images. This tool decompresses the archive in your browser, reads this reading order, then displays each chapter in an isolated reading area, with previous/next navigation and a dropdown to jump directly to a chapter.
Are the original EPUB styles and layout preserved?
No: for simplicity and to prevent an EPUB stylesheet from breaking the display, only the text and images of each chapter are displayed with a neutral reading layout (font, line spacing, text width adjusted to the screen). The advanced graphic layout of an illustrated EPUB may therefore be partially lost.
Why do some images not appear?
Images are associated with each chapter by their file name rather than by their full path in the archive, which works for the vast majority of EPUBs but can fail if two images from different folders have exactly the same name.
Does this reader work with protected EPUBs (DRM)?
No, EPUB files protected by technical measures (DRM, often used by commercial digital bookstores) remain encrypted and cannot be opened by this tool, which only supports unprotected EPUBs.
100% local processing: the EPUB file is decompressed and displayed entirely in your browser, it is never sent to or stored on a server.
