Event Cost Split Calculator
Split an event's expenses (birthday, outing with friends, group gift) fairly among participants, even when everyone didn't pay the same amount, and find out who needs to reimburse whom. Everything is calculated in your browser.
How it works
When several people advance money for a shared event (a gift, an outing, a weekend), each person rarely pays the same amount. This tool calculates each person's theoretical share (the total divided by the number of participants), compares it to what each person actually paid, and then proposes the minimal list of reimbursements to make everyone even.
How does the tool minimize the number of reimbursements?
Instead of having each person reimburse every other person individually, the algorithm directly matches participants who overpaid (creditors) with those who underpaid (debtors), settling the largest differences first. This generally reduces the total number of transfers to be made within the group.
What if a participant didn't pay anything at all?
Simply leave their paid amount at 0: they will automatically be identified as a debtor, and the calculation will show how much they need to reimburse the people who covered the expenses so that everyone's share stays the same.
The names and amounts entered remain only in your browser and are never sent to a server.
