Screen Break Timer (20-20-20 Rule)

Set a timer that alerts you at regular intervals to rest your eyes during prolonged screen work, following the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet away for 20 seconds. All calculation and countdown happen entirely in your browser.

Example:
Distance to look at during the break

How It Works

The timer automatically alternates between a work phase (the duration you set) and an eye-break phase (the duration you set), counting the number of completed cycles since starting. It keeps running as long as the tab stays open; close or reload the page to stop it, or use the Stop button.

What is the 20-20-20 rule?

It's a common recommendation to limit digital eye strain: every 20 minutes spent in front of a screen, take a 20-second break and look at an object about 20 feet (about 6 meters) away. This change of focal length relaxes the eye muscles strained by prolonged near vision.

Does this tool replace medical advice?

No. This timer is simply a practical tool to help you take regular breaks; it is provided for informational purposes only and does not replace the advice of a healthcare professional or ophthalmologist in case of persistent visual discomfort, dry eyes, or recurring screen-related headaches.

The timer works entirely in your browser: no data is sent to a server.
