Fantasy Name Generator
Generate a fantasy character name by combining syllables evocative of heroic fantasy — handy for a role-playing character, a novel, or a video game session.
How it works
The tool combines a prefix, possibly a middle syllable, and a suffix matching the chosen gender, drawn from lists designed to evoke classic fantasy sounds (elvish, Nordic...). Handy for a game master who needs to improvise an NPC name, or an author looking for inspiration for a new character.
Can I get a name that doesn't exist in any known work?
The syllables are combined randomly on each generation, so the result very rarely matches an exact name from an existing work, while still keeping a familiar fantasy-genre sound.
Why does gender only influence the suffix?
In many invented fantasy languages, it's the ending of the name that carries the masculine or feminine connotation (for example "-wyn" or "-iel" for feminine); the prefix and middle syllable therefore remain shared between both genders.
