How it works
Unlike a simple favicon generator that only produces two or three sizes, this kit covers all common use cases: browser tabs, Windows shortcuts, iOS and Android home screen icons, and a traditional favicon.ico file for maximum compatibility. Each size is generated by resizing with centered cropping, so the main subject of your image stays well framed even in the smallest versions.
Where do I place the generated files on my website?
Place all PNG files and the favicon.ico at the root of your site (for example
/favicon-32x32.png), then paste the provided HTML code into the
<head> section of your pages. The mentioned site.webmanifest file
is optional: it lets you define additional icons for PWAs if you
create one separately.
Why generate so many different sizes?
Each platform and display context expects a specific size: 32×32 for the desktop tab, 180×180 for the iOS home screen icon, 192×192 and 512×512 for Android app icons and PWAs. Providing all these sizes prevents a system from resizing your image itself, which often results in a blurry or pixelated look.
