Friendship Calculator

A fun test, in the schoolyard game style, to calculate a friendship percentage between two first names. Purely playful and with no scientific value, calculated instantly in your browser.

Example:

How it works

This calculator recreates a well-known schoolyard game: for each letter in the word "FRIENDS", count how many times it appears in the two combined first names, then reduce this sequence of numbers by successive additions until you get a two-digit percentage. The result is always the same for a given pair of first names: it's not random.

Does the result have any real meaning?

No, it's a purely recreational game inherited from schoolyard games (in the same family as the "FLAMES" love game). It doesn't measure anything real about the relationship between two people: it's above all an excuse to smile, not a serious relationship analysis tool.

Why is the result always the same for the same first names?

The calculation follows a deterministic method based only on the letters of the two entered first names: for identical first names (whether in the same order or not, since the result is symmetric), the score obtained will always be exactly the same, as in the original paper game.

The first names you enter stay only in your browser; no data is sent anywhere.
