Extract frames from an animated GIF
Grab a precise frame (an exact moment) from an animated GIF as an individual PNG file, ready to download.
How it works
An animated GIF is actually a series of still images displayed one after another. Sometimes you want to grab just one of these precise moments — a reaction, a meme, an exact instant of an animation — as a still image usable elsewhere. Import your GIF, run the extraction, then download the frame you're interested in individually as a PNG.
How many frames are extracted?
All the frames of the GIF are extracted, in their original order: a 20-frame GIF will produce 20 separately downloadable PNG files, numbered in the order they appear.
Why do some extracted frames have a different background than the GIF preview?
Some GIFs use partial frames that overlay previous ones rather than redrawing the entire frame at each step. Extraction renders each frame exactly as decoded by the GIF format; in rare complex animations, an isolated frame may therefore look slightly different from what the full animated preview shows.
100% local processing: extraction happens in your browser via WebAssembly — your GIF is never sent to a server.
