GPX Track Simplifier (Douglas-Peucker algorithm)

Reduce the number of points in a GPX file while keeping its overall shape, thanks to the Douglas-Peucker algorithm. Useful for lightening an oversized file or speeding up track display on a map.

Example:

How It Works

The Douglas-Peucker algorithm simplifies a line by removing the points that deviate the least from the overall trajectory. It keeps the points farthest from the current simplified line and discards the others as long as they stay within the chosen tolerance.

A higher tolerance removes more points (a lighter track that is less faithful to the details), while a low tolerance keeps a track close to the original.

100% local processing: the simplification runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your track is never sent to a server.
