IBAN Formatter
Paste an IBAN without spaces (or misformatted) to get its standard layout in groups of 4 characters, as well as a compact version without spaces. No bank data is sent to a server.
How it works
The ISO 13616 standard recommends displaying an IBAN in blocks of 4 characters separated by a space to make it easier to read and visually verify, while specifying that the "real" value of the IBAN (the one used in banking systems) contains no spaces. This tool first removes all non-alphanumeric characters from your input, capitalizes the result, and then produces both presentations.
Does this tool verify that the IBAN is valid?
No, it only reformats the character string: it only checks that the general format (letters and digits, plausible length, 2-letter country code at the start) is consistent, without recalculating the mod-97 check key. For a full validity check, use our dedicated IBAN validator.
Why do some forms reject an IBAN with spaces?
Many bank transfer systems expect the IBAN in its compact form, without any spaces or dashes. Use the "compact format" version shown here for those cases, and the 4-character group version for display or printing on a document.
Formatting happens entirely in your browser: your IBAN is never transmitted or stored on a server.
