Convert ICO to PNG

Convert a Windows icon (.ico) to a standard PNG image, usable in any software or website. 100% local processing in your browser (WebAssembly).

Example:

Drag and drop one or more .ico files here (max 10 MB each).

How it works

Did you get an .ico icon (extracted from software, downloaded from an icon site) and need a standard PNG format to use it in a mockup or website? Import the ICO file: the tool decodes the image it contains and re-encodes it directly to PNG.

An ICO file can contain several icon sizes, which one is used?

ICO files often embed several resolutions (16x16, 32x32, 256x256, etc.) to adapt to different display contexts. The tool extracts the image as decoded by default by the ICO decoder, generally the first or the largest available in the file.

Is the icon's transparency preserved?

Yes, the PNG format natively handles transparency (alpha channel), just like modern ICO icons. The original icon's transparency is therefore preserved in the resulting PNG.

100% local processing: the conversion happens in your browser via our WebAssembly module — your files are never sent to a server.
