How it works
Publishing an app to the App Store or Play Store requires providing the icon in many different sizes (store icon, home screen icon, various display densities...). This tool crops your logo into a square and then generates each required size from that same source, keeping a sharp result thanks to the browser's native resizing.
Why are so many different sizes needed?
iOS displays the icon at different sizes depending on the screen (2x or 3x resolution) and context (home, settings, Spotlight search), while Android has its own screen densities (mdpi to xxxhdpi). Providing each size upfront prevents automatic resizing by the system from degrading the icon's sharpness.
What starting resolution should I use for a sharp result at all sizes?
Start with a square image of at least 1024 x 1024 pixels, the size required for the App Store icon: all smaller sizes generated from this source will stay sharp, whereas the reverse (enlarging a small image) would produce a blurry result.
