Crop an image into a circle
Automatically crop an image into a circle, with a transparent background outside the circle — perfect for an avatar or profile picture.
How it works
Preparing an avatar for a social network, a team badge, or a contact icon, and need a clean circular crop rather than a simple CSS border-radius? The tool calculates, for each pixel, its distance from the center of the image: beyond the radius of the largest inscribed circle, the pixel becomes fully transparent.
What happens if the image is not square?
The circle is always inscribed within the smallest side of the image (width or height), which can leave rectangular material visible on the opposite edges if the image is very elongated. For an optimal result, use a square image first.
Why is the resulting file always in PNG?
The JPEG format does not support transparency. The result is therefore always produced in PNG, which natively handles the alpha channel needed to render the outside of the circle transparent.
100% local processing: the crop happens in your browser via our WebAssembly module — your images are never sent to a server.
