Swap color channels (RGB)

Rearrange the red, green, and blue channels of an image to create surprising false-color effects. 100% local processing in your browser (WebAssembly).

Example:

Drag and drop one or more images here (max 25 MB each).

E.g.: "gbr" puts green in place of red, blue in place of green, red in place of blue.

How it works

Want to create a "false color" effect like satellite imagery, or visually check how software interprets RGB vs BGR channel order? Specify the desired order (for example "gbr" to put green in place of red, blue in place of green, and red in place of blue), and each pixel is rebuilt according to this order.

What exactly does the "gbr" order mean?

Each letter indicates which original channel feeds the corresponding position in the result. With "gbr", the new red channel takes the value of the old green, the new green takes the value of the old blue, and the new blue takes the value of the old red.

Can I repeat the same letter several times, for example "rrr"?

No, the order must be a true permutation of the three letters r, g, and b, each used exactly once. To duplicate a channel across all three (solid false-hue image), use a grayscale conversion tool followed by a tint instead.

100% local processing: the swap happens in your browser via our WebAssembly module — your images are never sent to a server.
