Film grain effect for images

Add fine analog film grain to a digital photo, with slight desaturation and boosted contrast for a vintage look. Adjust the grain intensity and desaturation to match the style you want.

Example:
Drag and drop an image, or click to browse. 25 MB max.

How it works

The tool slightly desaturates the image toward its grayscale levels, boosts the contrast, then adds random noise independently to each pixel to reproduce the grainy texture typical of analog film, most visible in the midtones.

Is the grain identical on every processed photo?

No, the noise is generated randomly each time, so two successive exports of the same image will have slightly different grain, like two different prints from the same roll of film.

Do I always have to desaturate the image?

No, set desaturation to 0% to keep the original colors while adding only the grain and contrast, a style often used for color photos with a 35mm film look.

The grain and contrast are computed pixel by pixel directly in your browser: your photo stays private and is never sent to a server.
