Glitch effect for images
Apply a digital glitch effect to a photo: horizontal bands randomly shifted and separated red/blue channels, for a deliberate visual "corruption" look. Adjust the band intensity and the color shift.
How it works
The image is cut into horizontal bands, some of which are shifted sideways by a random amount, imitating a video stream read error. The red and blue channels are then shifted in opposite directions relative to the green channel, creating the color separation typical of digital glitches.
Why does the result change on every click?
The number of affected bands and their offset are drawn randomly on each generation, which makes it easy to get several glitch variations of the same image without adjusting each band manually.
How do I get a subtle glitch rather than an extreme one?
Lower the band intensity to under 20% and the RGB channel shift to 2-4 pixels: the result stays subtle, with only a few visible artifacts, which works well for thumbnails or cover visuals.
The band and color channel shifts are computed directly in your browser: your image is never sent to a server.
