Split an Image into an Instagram Grid (3x3)

Split a photo into several square tiles to post sequentially on Instagram, forming a single large reconstructed image on your profile. The square cropping and splitting are calculated in your browser.

How it works

An Instagram grid is a visual effect created by posting several distinct images that, when placed side by side on your profile, reconstruct a single large image. This tool crops your photo to a square, divides it into equal tiles (3x3 or 2x2), and exports each tile numbered in publication order.

In what order should I post the tiles?

On Instagram, profile grids fill from left to right then top to bottom for each new row, but the display builds from bottom to top as you post. So post the tiles in the reverse of their numbering (the last tile first) so the final result aligns correctly.

Why is my image cropped to a square before splitting?

The Instagram grid displays posts as squares: if your original photo isn't square, the tool automatically selects the largest centered square area in the image before dividing it, so each tile keeps a 1:1 ratio consistent with the Instagram feed.

No tile is sent to a server: the split is performed entirely in your browser.
