Invert an image's colors
Create a photographic negative by inverting the colors of your images.
How it works
Looking for an original artistic effect, or need to visually check a negative film scan by flipping it back to positive? Upload one or more images and run the inversion: each color is replaced by its complementary color (white becomes black, red becomes cyan, etc.), producing a true photographic negative.
What's the difference with the "negative" mode of an editing program?
None: it's exactly the same operation, namely inverting each color channel (red, green, blue) across the whole range of possible values. It's a simple, fully reversible mathematical operation: inverting an image twice restores the original image.
Does inversion work on black-and-white images?
Yes. On a grayscale image, inversion simply turns each light pixel into a dark one and vice versa, giving a result close to a classic silver film negative.
100% local processing: the inversion is performed in your browser via our WebAssembly module — your images are never sent to a server.
