Kaleidoscope Effect
Transform a photo into a kaleidoscope pattern by rotating and radially mirroring a sector of the image: adjust the number of segments, the rotation, and the center point to vary the result.
How It Works
A triangular sector of your image, centered on the point you choose, is cut out and duplicated around a circle, alternating normal and mirrored orientation and applying a slight rotation between each copy. This reproduces the optical effect of a physical kaleidoscope, where the same image fragment is reflected several times symmetrically.
How do I choose the best center point?
Move the horizontal and vertical center toward an area of the image rich in colors or details (an eye, a flower, a pattern): that is the fragment that will be repeated and will determine the overall look of the final kaleidoscope.
What happens if I increase the number of segments?
The more segments there are, the finer and more complex the final pattern appears, with closer repetitions; a lower number of segments (6 to 8) produces a more graphic result where each segment remains easily identifiable.
The kaleidoscope effect is calculated entirely in your browser; your image is never sent to a server.
