Convert a photo negative to positive
Photograph or scan a color film negative, then automatically get a positive version with inverted colors and correction of the orange cast typical of film.
How it works
A color photo negative inverts the brightness and hues of the photographed scene, and adds an orange cast from the film's physical mask, which is used to improve color rendering in printing. This tool first inverts each color channel (red, green, blue), then automatically stretches the levels of each channel to neutralize the remaining orange tint and recover colors close to the original scene.
Do I need to photograph the negative in a particular way?
For the best result, photograph the negative lying flat and backlit (against a bright window or a white screen), with no reflections or cast shadows, and if possible frame only one shot at a time so the automatic level correction applies properly to that specific image.
Why turn off the automatic cast correction?
If your colors come out too desaturated or with an unexpected tint after automatic correction (for example on a negative already photographed under neutral lighting), uncheck the option to get only the raw inversion, then adjust the color balance manually in another tool.
100% local processing: the inversion and color correction happen entirely in your browser — your photo is never sent to a server.
