Add noise to an image

Add random grain or noise to one or more images, with an adjustable intensity.

Example:
Drag and drop one or more images here (25 MB max each).

How it works

Want to recreate the look of grainy silver film, test the robustness of an image processing algorithm, or simply add an artistic texture? Adjust the intensity and the tool adds an independent random offset to each color channel of every pixel.

How is the noise generated?

For each pixel, a random offset between -intensity and +intensity is added separately to the red, green and blue channels, then the result is clamped back into the valid 0-255 range. The transparency channel is not affected.

Can a high intensity make the image unreadable?

Yes, above 60-70, the noise becomes very visible and can heavily degrade the image's readability, somewhat like a photo taken at a very high ISO sensitivity in the dark.

100% local processing: the noise is generated and applied in your browser via our WebAssembly module — your images are never sent to a server.
