Fix EXIF orientation of an image

Automatically straighten a photo that appears rotated or flipped because of its "Orientation" EXIF tag, by physically applying the rotation to the pixels. 100% local processing in your browser (WebAssembly).

Example:

Drag and drop one or more photos here (max 25 MB each).

How it works

Did you take a photo with your phone held vertically, but it displays sideways or upside down in some software? Cameras often store the "raw" sensor image with an "Orientation" EXIF tag indicating how to rotate it for display. This tool reads that tag and actually applies the rotation or flip to the pixels, producing an image that is always upright, even in software that ignores EXIF.

What happens if the image has no EXIF metadata?

If no orientation tag is found (photo already "flat", screenshot, generated image), the tool simply re-encodes the image without modifying it — this is not considered an error.

Why is the result always in PNG?

Once the orientation has been fixed, the old EXIF metadata (including the orientation tag) is no longer valid since the pixels have physically changed position. Re-encoding to PNG guarantees a clean file, with no obsolete metadata or quality loss.

100% local processing: the correction happens in your browser via our WebAssembly module — your images are never sent to a server.
