Rebuild an image as a photo mosaic
Rebuild a target image from hundreds of small photos: the tool splits the target image into a grid and replaces each cell with the source photo whose average color is closest, from the ones you provide.
How it works
The target image is split into a grid of cells, and the average color of each one is computed. Each source photo you provide also has its average color computed in advance; for each cell in the grid, the tool picks the source photo whose average color is closest to the cell's, then draws it cropped at that position — rebuilding the target image from your photos.
What does the "strengthen color match" setting do?
This setting overlays a light tint of each cell's original color on the chosen photo, which makes the mosaic more faithful to the target image from a distance, at the cost of a slightly less recognizable source photo up close. At 0%, the source photos appear with no color alteration.
How many source photos do I need for a good result?
The more photos you provide with varied average colors, the more closely the mosaic can match the target image: with only a few photos, some will be reused many times across the grid. Around forty photos with varied colors usually gives good results.
All color analysis and the final composition happen locally in your browser: neither the target image nor the source photos are sent to a server.
