Photo Print Size Calculator

Enter your image's pixel dimensions and the desired print resolution (DPI) to instantly find the physical print size in centimeters and inches.

300 DPI = standard photo quality, 150 DPI = poster viewed from a distance.

How It Works

A digital image has no physical size in itself: it only has a number of pixels. The chosen print resolution (expressed in DPI, 'dots per inch') determines how many centimeters each pixel will occupy once printed. This calculator simply applies the formula size = pixels ÷ DPI, converted into centimeters and millimeters, and updates instantly as you change any field.

What DPI should I choose for a good photo print?

300 DPI is the standard for a quality photo print viewed up close (album, framed photo on a shelf). For a large poster viewed from a distance (poster, roll-up banner, vinyl), 150 DPI, or even 72-100 DPI for a very large format viewed from far away, is more than enough for the eye while reducing the required file size.

Why does my image look small even though it has a lot of pixels?

The higher the chosen DPI, the smaller the print size for the same number of pixels, since each inch contains more dots. Conversely, lowering the DPI enlarges the print size but can make individual pixels visible if the print is viewed up close.
