Extract a handwritten signature (transparent background)
Take a photo of your signature on a white sheet, and this tool automatically removes the background to keep only the ink strokes, as a transparent PNG.
How it works
Each pixel of the photo is analyzed based on its brightness: light pixels (the paper) become transparent, dark pixels (the ink) are kept and recolored in the color of your choice, with opacity proportional to their original intensity.
Which photo gives the best result?
A dark-ink signature on white paper, photographed in good, even lighting with the paper flat (no drop shadows or glare), gives the cleanest result; a yellowed background or noticeable shadow may require increasing the detection threshold to separate ink from paper properly.
The threshold slider isn't giving a clean result — what should I do?
Increase the threshold if traces of paper remain visible around the signature, or decrease it if part of the signature strokes disappears; the optimal setting depends directly on the contrast between ink and paper in your photo.
All the pixel-by-pixel analysis happens locally in your browser; a photo of your signature is never sent to a server.
