Advanced SVG optimizer

Optimize an SVG file by combining removal of unnecessary metadata (title, description, comments, XML header), text minification and rounding of path decimal coordinates to cut the file size even further.

Example:

Which optimizations are applied?

This tool combines several passes: removing the XML header, the DOCTYPE, title/description/metadata tags and comments, rounding the decimal coordinates of paths (the d attribute of paths and shape coordinates) to the chosen precision, then a final text minification that strips unnecessary spaces and line breaks between tags.

Can rounding coordinates visually distort my icon?

With a precision of 1 to 2 decimals, the distortion is imperceptible to the naked eye in the vast majority of cases, because the error introduced stays below a tenth of a pixel when displayed. For very fine paths or technical SVGs (plans, diagrams), prefer a higher precision (3-4 decimals).

How does this tool go further than the site's basic SVG minifier?

The basic minifier only removes comments and unnecessary spaces. This advanced optimizer adds the removal of non-visual metadata (title, description, XML header) and reduced precision of numeric coordinates, which allows noticeable additional size savings on SVGs exported directly from design software.

100% local processing: the optimization combines JavaScript running in your browser and a WebAssembly module, and your SVG file is never sent to a server.
