Generate an image thumbnail

Upload an image, specify the desired maximum dimension, and get a resized thumbnail that keeps the proportions — ideal for a web gallery, a product catalog, or a preview. 100% local processing in your browser (WebAssembly).

Example:

Drag and drop an image here, or click to select it (max 30 MB).

The largest dimension (width or height) will be scaled down to this value, keeping the proportions.

How it works

Do you need to feed a web gallery, a product catalog, or a list of blog posts with lightweight, consistent thumbnails, without opening an editing program for each image? Upload your photo, specify the desired maximum dimension (the larger of the two dimensions, width or height, won't exceed this value), then run the generation: the image is proportionally resized with a quality filter to stay sharp despite the reduction.

How is the maximum dimension applied?

The tool compares the width and height of the original image: the larger of the two is scaled down to the specified value, and the other dimension is automatically recalculated to keep the original ratio. A portrait-format photo (taller than wide) will therefore be limited by height, a landscape-format photo by width.

What dimension should I choose for a web gallery?

For small list or grid thumbnails, 150 to 300px is generally enough. For larger previews (product page, portfolio), aim instead for 600 to 800px. Keep in mind that smaller thumbnails reduce the total page weight and speed up its loading.
