How it works

Want to give a more dramatic photographic look to a portrait, or naturally refocus attention on the main subject of a photo? Adjust the intensity and the tool progressively darkens pixels as they move away from the center of the image, leaving the center untouched.

How is the darkening calculated?

For each pixel, the tool calculates its distance from the center of the image, normalized between 0 (at the center) and 1 (in the corners). This distance is then squared and multiplied by the chosen intensity to determine how much to darken the pixel, which produces a smooth transition rather than a hard edge.

What intensity gives a subtle effect?

An intensity between 20% and 40% gives a discreet effect that draws the eye without being noticeable at first glance, while above 70% the corners become almost black for a very pronounced look.

100% local processing: the vignette is applied in your browser via our WebAssembly module — your images are never sent to a server.
