Internal link anchor text analyzer

Paste a page's HTML to extract all its links and their anchor text, spot weak generic anchors ("click here", "read more") and see how the anchors you use are distributed.

Example:

How it works

The anchor text of an internal link gives search engines (and readers) a clue about the content of the target page. An effective internal linking structure uses descriptive anchors ("sports shoe care guide") rather than generic wording ("click here", "read more") that provides no contextual information. Paste a page's HTML to list all its links, spot the anchors that need improvement and see which anchors appear most often.

Why are generic anchors bad for SEO?

An anchor like "click here" passes no topical signal to the destination page, unlike a descriptive anchor, which helps search engines understand what the linked page is about. This also matters for accessibility: screen readers often announce the list of links out of context, where "click here" repeated several times doesn't help users find their way.

How does the tool detect a generic anchor?

The tool compares each link's text (normalized to lowercase) with a list of common generic phrases in French and English ("cliquez ici", "en savoir plus", "lire la suite", "click here"...). An empty anchor text is also flagged as a problem, because it leaves the link with no textual context at all.

Privacy: the pasted HTML is analyzed locally in your browser using the DOMParser API, and no data is sent to a server.
