French legal notice generator
Enter your site's information (publisher, host, contact details) to generate a template legal notice (“mentions légales”) that follows the main requirements of French law. Generated 100% locally in your browser, and nothing you enter is sent to a server.
Important: this text is a generic template provided for guidance only. It does not constitute legal advice and must be reviewed and validated by a legal professional (lawyer, legal counsel) before publication, in particular to check that it fits your exact situation (legal status, industry, data processing).
How it works
In France, Article 6-III of the Law for Confidence in the Digital Economy (LCEN) requires every website publisher, professional or not, to display a legal notice identifying the publisher and the host. Fill in the form with your details (publisher type, contact information, SIRET number for a company, host), and the text updates automatically in the result area, ready to copy to your site.
Is a legal notice mandatory even for an individual?
Yes, the LCEN applies to every publisher, including a non-commercial personal blog. However, an individual publisher can ask to publicly display only the name of their host, provided they give their full identity to the host, who must be able to pass it on when legally required by a court.
What if my site processes personal data (form, newsletter, cookies)?
This generator includes a basic GDPR notice, but a site that collects personal data should generally have a separate, detailed privacy policy, as well as a compliant cookie consent banner if non-essential trackers are used. Get advice from a professional on these aspects.
