Love calculator

Enter two first names to get a fun compatibility percentage, calculated with the classic common-letters game. A tool that's 100% for entertainment, with no scientific basis — the calculation is done entirely in your browser.

How it works

This calculator revives a game popularized in schoolyards and teen magazines: you remove, one by one, the letters common to both first names, then count the letters remaining on each side. The two numbers obtained are concatenated and then reduced through successive additions of digits two by two, until a two-digit percentage is obtained.

Does the result change if I swap the order of the two first names?

No, the result is symmetrical: whether you enter "Romeo" then "Juliet" or the reverse, the number of common letters removed is identical, so the final percentage doesn't change.

Does this percentage have any real value?

Absolutely none. It's a traditional letter game, not a psychological test or a real compatibility analysis. Use it for a laugh with friends, not to make an important romantic decision.

The first names entered stay in your browser for the duration of the calculation and are never sent to a server.
