MAC Address Generator

Generate a random MAC address (with the "locally administered" bit correctly set) for your network tests, virtual machines, or scripts.

How it works

A MAC address uniquely identifies a network interface. This generator creates a valid random address, ensuring the "locally administered" bit is set and the "multicast" bit is cleared on the first octet — exactly as hypervisors (VirtualBox, VMware) do when assigning addresses to virtual machines.

Why does the "locally administered" bit matter?

It indicates that the address is not one factory-assigned by a manufacturer, thereby avoiding any collision with a real MAC address existing on a commercial device.

Can I use this address on a real device?

Yes, it's valid and can be used to configure a network card, a VM, or a MAC filtering test, but it's purely random and doesn't correspond to any real manufacturer.

100% local processing: generation happens entirely in your browser via WebAssembly, with no data sent to a server.
