Remove Markdown formatting
Strip all Markdown syntax (headings, bold, italics, links, lists, quotes, inline code) from a text and keep only the plain content — handy for pasting a blog post into a simple text field.
How it works
The tool removes, in turn, heading markers (#), bold (** or __), italics (* or _), inline code (backticks), links (keeping the visible text), list bullets and quote markers (>), leaving only the readable text. It's useful when you want to reuse the contents of a README file or a Markdown article somewhere that doesn't accept formatting, such as a form field or a text message.
Are multi-line code blocks handled?
This tool focuses on the most common inline formatting (headings, bold, italics, links, lists, quotes and inline code). Code blocks fenced with triple backticks aren't specifically handled and may remain visible in the result.
Is the link text lost?
No, the visible link text is kept (for example [Byteryo](https://...) simply becomes Byteryo); only the URL in parentheses is removed.
100% local processing: your Markdown text never leaves your browser, and all the cleanup runs via WebAssembly on your device.
