Memorable password generator

Generate easy-to-remember passwords by combining several words from a theme (nature, space, cooking...), separated by a hyphen and completed with digits or a symbol. The cryptographic random draw runs entirely in your browser.

How it works

Popularized by the "correct horse battery staple" principle, the idea behind a memorable password is to combine several unrelated words rather than a short string of random characters: the total length increases entropy while being easier to remember than a sequence like Xk9$mQ2!. This tool picks several words from a theme of your choice, capitalizes them, separates them with a hyphen and optionally adds digits and a symbol.

Is a word-based password as secure as a regular random password?

At equal length, a purely random password is theoretically still stronger, but a combination of 3 to 4 words taken from a large enough theme (several thousand possible combinations) already offers comfortable entropy for most uses, while being much easier to remember and type without errors.

Why separate the words with a hyphen instead of joining them?

The separator makes the password easier to read and simplifies typing it by hand, especially on mobile, while also adding to the overall entropy since it's part of the final string of characters.

The random draw uses your browser's secure cryptographic API; no generated password is sent to a server.
